There comes a moment in life when you realize that true fulfillment lies in aligning your passions with your profession. My name is Amber Murayi, and I have embarked on a journey where my roles as a strategist, artist, and coach converge, creating an interconnected blend that not only fulfills me but also empowers those I work with. I have embarked on a journey to design my life and create a portfolio career.
The Quest for Cohesion
For years, I thrived as a strategy executive, diving deep into analytics and market trends, helping companies navigate through complex challenges. Yet, outside the office, I leaned into a different facet of my identity—a painter, a creator moved by colors and forms. In the quiet hours, I was also a mentor, formally and informally coaching friends and colleagues, guiding them through personal and professional growth.
Despite success in each of these areas, I often felt fragmented, as if I were switching between different versions of myself. The realization that these facets could be integrated rather than compartmentalized sparked a profound shift in my perspective.
The Decision to Integrate
The decision to align my career with all parts of my identity was both liberating and daunting. I knew that bringing together my strategic mindset, my artistic soul, and my passion for coaching would require stepping out of my comfort zone and venturing into uncharted territory.
I began by redefining what it meant to be a leader and a professional. Could a strategist not also be an artist? Could an artist not strategize? Would I enjoy adding the title of Entrepreneur? The answer, I found, was a resounding yes. By embracing all parts of my identity, I could offer a unique perspective to companies I consulted and leaders I coached—a perspective that celebrated comprehensive understanding and creative solutions.
A New Approach to Coaching
I have taken steps to build the Strategy Firm of my dreams by launching Artisan Strategy Partners and publicly share my art creations (Instagram: @ambermurayi.art). But, as I step into my role as a coach and facilitator, I crafted a methodology that is inherently me. I use strategic tools (Hogan Certification coming June 2024) to help clients navigate their careers and personal lives with precision and foresight. Simultaneously, I encourage clients to visualize their goals, engage with their values, and see their challenges from new, creative angles.
Embracing the Whole Self
Today, I stand at the intersection of strategy, art, and coaching, committed to guiding individuals, teams and companies toward alignment and growth of their own. I encourage you to embrace your multifaceted identity, your varied skills and interests are not just compatible—they are powerful when combined.
In this journey of alignment, I have discovered (and continue to discover) that the key to profound satisfaction and impact lies in the integration of all parts of ourselves.
When we align our careers with our entire being, we don’t just succeed; we thrive.
